According to a recent report by Citation, a provider of HR and employment law solutions, 65 percent of the 139 small business owners surveyed said that employing a specific recruitment HR strategy has a direct impact on business success and financial growth. While that is noted, according to Zuraida Curtis, field HR consultant at Citation, good recruitment strategies not only help with employee morale and overall happiness, they also assist retention. Curtis explained that by keeping employees engaged, business can actually avoid having to undergo frequent recruitment processes. Giving chance for growth potential and training creates a happier employee. "One thing is true here, smaller businesses can have higher engagement levels than larger ones because their people are not just a payroll number, they are a person — and this really matters." Linda Jodrell, HR director for Citation, said. "Give someone support in a time of personal need and you will get it paid back tenfold."

In this regard, Curtis advised businesses looking to create a good recruitment strategy for growth to follow these tips.
Analyze. Here you need to take a close look at business needs as well as goals and objectives that you want to achieve. Identify. Know your long-term plans for expansion or reduction in staff members, critical roles in the business, and any gaps that need to be filled. Also, be on the lookout for seasonal fluctuations in staffing requirements.
Determine. On this line, you should figure out what the best recruitment method is for your business. Job searches via social media are increasing and this method can be used to effectively target candidates with specific skills sets.
Secure. At this point, you need to provide a competitive salary and opportunities for personal growth within your business. Now, according to the survey, 13 percent of employers said salary is the most important factor in retaining employees.

Be clear about the required skills and experience and what the job entails, including hours of work and role responsibilities. "Try to avoid hiring on gut instinct," Curtis said.
